Julia Johnson
Communications Assistant
Julia joined the AALDEF staff in 2023 as Communications Assistant. She is passionate about social justice, racial justice, reproductive rights, global health equity, and much more. Prior to AALDEF, she worked editorially on children’s books at HarperCollins Publishers, where her goal was to uplift and amplify diverse voices, focusing on collaborating with BIPOC creators and authors and illustrators from marginalized identities.
Julia's experiences in communications and development at Global Health Corps and America Votes laid the foundation to further her overall life mission to make fundamental, lasting change in the world—such as helping launch the 2021-2022 fellowship cohort of diverse leaders at GHC, and creating several social media campaigns to increase voter turnout during the 2020 presidential election for AV. She received her B.A. in Creative Writing and English from the George Washington University.
