50 Years
The 50 Stories Project, a collection of stories from staff over the past five decades.
Fifty years ago in 1974, the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund, also known as AALDEF, was founded in New York City. Over the span of half a century, hundreds of people have worked with us in a variety of roles. As lawyers in the courtroom, activists at community events and rallies, and office staff helping keep the lights on, all have been in greater service to the Asian American movement and AALDEF’s mission to protect and promote the civil rights of Asian Americans.
Through the 50 Stories project, we aim to capture, not only the impact of our important work, but the day-to-day experiences of the people that make up AALDEF: staff, board, interns, volunteers, and community partners.
