Sunset Park Rezoning Case Heads to the High Court

Brooklyn Eagle – Lawyers representing community groups in Sunset Park opposed to a recent rezoning law have announced that they are bringing their case to New York state’s highest court.

In September, the Appellate Division First Department upheld New York City’s planning department’s environmental review of the neighborhood’s 128-block rezoning, which review the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF) and South Brooklyn Legal Services claim was “inadequate.”

“Sunset Park is an immigrant neighborhood. For the lower income communities of color that reside there, the proposed rezoning will be deeply disruptive,” said AALDEF staff attorney Bethany Li.
