Decaturish: DeKalb voters see smooth in-person experience on Election Day
By Zoe Seiler
DeKalb County, GA — Voters across DeKalb and Fulton counties have had a smooth experience so far on Election Day. There has been some confusion about polling locations and where to drop off absentee ballots, but the lines have been short.
According to the Secretary of State’s office, over 700,000 ballots have been cast across the state as of about 2:37 p.m. Georgia smashed voting records during the three weeks of early voting. Over 4 million people voted early in-person or absentee.

About 249 people had voted at the Tucker Library as of about 12:43 p.m. A poll watcher and volunteers with the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund said the day had been somewhat slow at the library. In Tucker, there was some confusion about where to vote and where to turn absentee ballots in at. The library was an early voting location with a drop box.
One couple brought their grandchildren to the library to see the voting precinct. They had voted early but wanted their six- and eight-year-old grandsons to see the voting process.
“I want them to learn early on how important it is to vote. I did that with my children too, with their dad,” the grandmother said. “I think [voting is] every citizen’s responsibility to do so.”
